Paolo Ghiglione is still searching for his first goal for Genoa and has praised Davide Nicola, whilst working hard to get back in action after a hamstring injury.

“I have already started running and I think I can get back in a couple of weeks,” he told La Provincia Pavese. “I still haven’t scored my first Genoa goal.

“I have already started running and I think I can get back in a couple of weeks,” he told La Provincia Pavese. “I still haven’t scored my first Genoa goal.

“I hope it will arrive soon; it would be a great feeling.”

The 23-year-old has played 20 games and contributed five assists in the League this term and he has praised Davide Nicola, who took over after Thiago Motta and has helped bring the optimism back at the Marassi.

“With Nicola we have found the right balance,” he said. “Now we are more compact, and we have more determination.

“I grew up with this shirt, being able to wear it gives me great pride. My desire is to play in the national team.

“I have already worn the Azzurri shirt at youth level.”

Genoa are currently one point behind Sampdoria in the League, but their local rivals have one game in hand and currently occupy the last safe spot in Serie A.

Parma come to visit in Genoa on Saturday and the Rossoblu will have to bounce back from a 3-2 defeat against Lazio last time. The loss came after a run of four games without defeat for the Grifone.
