Italian politician and President of the Lazio region Nicola Zingaretti has confirmed he was diagnosed with the Coronavirus.
The illness has now created over 3,000 positive tests in Italy, with 197 fatalities.
Zingaretti announced via a Facebook post that he is in isolation at home after testing positive for the highly-contagious respiratory disease.
He has been the President of the Lazio regional assembly since 2013 and Secretary of the PD party since 2019.
