Udinese coach Luca Gotti was left to rue missed opportunities in the 0-0 draw with Fiorentina, but “it is a fair result.”

The Friulani played out their fourth consecutive draw, so remain two points behind Fiorentina in the table.

“Today’s results elsewhere in the relegation battle really made the table tighter down there, but I continue to tell my players that our fate is purely in our hands,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Today’s results elsewhere in the relegation battle really made the table tighter down there, but I continue to tell my players that our fate is purely in our hands,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We put all we had on to the field today, but can’t seem to finish off our chances with goals. The draw is a fair result, as the teams had different characteristics, but played out an even game. We both had opportunities.”

Gotti was asked about the calls from the Players’ Association to suspend all football in Italy during the Coronavirus outbreak.

“We are fortunate enough to work in sport, so we cannot complain about this situation. Having said that, the last few weeks have been something of an emotional roller-coaster.

“These players have done so well to retain their focus in a surreal situation.”
