A press conference held this evening confirmed that another 168 deaths were registered since this time yesterday (135 of them in Lombardy), taking the total death toll to 631.
Once again, the vast majority of these people had pre-existing health conditions, which are exacerbated by contracting COVID-19.
The number of patients currently in intensive care is now at 877, an extra 144 compared to Monday.
There are another 529 positive tests compared to yesterday, so now 8,514 people are suffering with the disease, while 1,004 have fully recovered (an increase of 280).
Including those who have died, are currently ill and have fully recovered, 10,149 people tested positive for Coronavirus in Italy.
The number of cases all over the world has also surged forward over the last 24 hours, with 5,000 new positive tests and 244 more deaths.
