Del Piero: 'Perfect Dybala position'

Alessandro Del Piero warns Maurizio Sarri needs more time to make Juventus his own and believes Paulo Dybala is “perfect uniting midfield and attack.”

The Bianconeri are still top of the table, albeit only one point ahead of Lazio, when Serie A was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“Sarri created such beautiful ideas of football at Empoli and Napoli, but those took time to achieve, with daily training sessions and constant communication,” Del Piero told Sky Sport Italia.

“Juve don’t have that kind of time, because they play so many games, therefore a coach can require over a year to get his ideas drilled into the team.

“We haven’t seen much beautiful football in Sarri’s Juve, but there was a bit, so I think they are on the right track. After all, they are still top of Serie A and in with a chance of qualifying for the Champions league quarter-finals.”

Among the concerns for Sarri is Dybala’s position, as the system has switched from 4-3-1-2 to 4-3-3.

“I think playing just off the centre-forward is the best position for Dybala, because he can assist, dribble and score goals,” continued Del Piero.

“He has to be near to the goal, but I don’t quite see him as a centre-forward, even if he can open up spaces for teammates. I believe he’s perfect uniting the midfield with the attack.”

Del Piero is currently living in Los Angeles and explained how the United States of America are dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are basically experiencing now what Italy had two or three weeks ago. There isn’t currently any clear advice on what to do, so people are panic-buying in the supermarkets.

“We Italians followed what was happening back home and are therefore more prepared. America will not be immune from the coronavirus.”

The Italy 2006 World Cup winning squad have come together to create a fund-raising page for the Red Cross during the global pandemic.
