The people are in lockdown and the former Juventus hero has revealed that he is “worried” about the current situation because of the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy.

Serie A has been suspended and the players remain at home, including the former players like Marchisio, who talked to Tuttosport about his own situation and his thoughts about the current plans in football.

“I’m worried, like everyone else,” Marchisio told Tuttosport. “I have friends who are doctors and they have told me about the dramatic situation, so I renew the invitation: stay at home.

“I stay at home with my family. It’s not that bad. I move form husband to dad, with moments of being a policeman separating the two children who fight.”

The former Bianconeri midfielder has claimed that the postponement of the European Championship until 2021 was the most “logical choice” and hopes to see the 2019-20 season concluded this summer.

“It was the most logical choice. It was supposed to be a travelling event, providing an assist to the virus! It was correct to move it to 2021,” he added. “I hope there will be time to end the club season.

“Although, what I read about starting again in mid-April seems like a bit of an illusion. I think it would be more probable to start in mid-May, although it’s impossible to make predictions.”

The cases regarding Juventus stars Daniele Rugani and Blaise Matuidi are “mild”, according to the former No8, and he hopes it stays that way.

“I hope it continues to be in a mild form as for [Daniele] Rugani and [Blaise] Matuidi, to whom I wish a speedy recovery,” he said. “I’m very close to them in this moment.

“It will be interesting to understand how we can work during this forced break. The players can’t stay still for too long and then they will have to be ready for a Tour de Force. This will make the athletic aspect very interesting, but even more the psychological one.

Marchisio points out that the depth in the Old Lady squad could help them when the teams come out of this difficult period.

“In Italy, Juventus will have an advantage over Lazio and Inter, because of the abundant squad,” he said. “I had seen them improving before the interruption, during the game against Inter.

“Lazio will not have cups and it can be an advantage, but you will have to understand the effects that this stop will have on [coach Simone] Inzaghi’s team.”
