Italian authorities are keen to complete the 2019-20 campaign and Ceferin has now joined those calls.

“Serie A will be concluded. I’m optimistic and confident even if, right now, I can’t promise or guarantee anything,” he told Ekipa.

“Everything will depend on the situation in each country. Serie A isn’t part of UEFA’s remit, but I can guarantee we won’t endanger people’s lives and that we will all listen in order to find a suitable solution for each league, once the governments have given us the green light.”

While the Serie A title race is on a knife edge, Liverpool are 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League…

“I don’t see how we could leave Liverpool title-less. if they went back to playing, they would almost certainly win the Premier League.

“If we don’t resume playing, it would be advisable to announce the champions of each league.

“As for the Champions League, we’re expecting it to end with the same format it had before the suspension.”
