International Champions Cup cancelled

Inevitably, the 2020 edition of the International Champions Cup has been cancelled, which could cost clubs up to €15m.

With football at a standstill and the coronavirus pandemic hitting the USA harder than any other country right now, the idea of playing a friendly tournament in North America was “unfeasible.”

The organisers of the ICC announced that the 2020 summer tournament has been scrapped.

Several top European clubs were due to take part, including Juventus, Inter, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool.

It’s rumoured failing to play this series of games could cost in the region of €15m.
