River Plate are dreaming of bringing Gonzalo Higuain back to Argentina and Juventus are reportedly looking at a future move in the opposite direction for Julian Alvarez.

Tuttosport claims the Argentine star could be heading back to River and that Juventus are hoping to make use of the situation, just as they did when Carlos Tevez moved to Boca Juniors in 2015.

Coach Maurizio Sarri brought Higuain back into the mix at the Allianz Stadium this term but his future seems to be elsewhere, and the newspaper claims the Bianconeri are looking at some of the youngsters from River.

Tevez returning to Boca played an important part in securing a transfer for Rodrigo Bentancur two years later. Higuain can be used in a similar way to make sure Juventus pick up the Argentina Under-20 international Julian Alvarez.

Tuttosport points out that the Bianconeri are also keeping an eye on midfielder Cristian Ferreira and the defensive duo Martinez Quarta and Gonzalo Montiel.

Higuain left River in 2007, when Real Madrid picked him up for €12m and he moved to Napoli in 2013.

He has since played 215 games in Serie A, scoring 122 goals in the process, and holds the record of 36 league goals in a single season in 2015-16, breaking the previous record set by Milan legend Gunnar Nordahl in the 1950s.
