Manchester United have joined Everton, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Napoli forward Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano.

The Mexico international cost almost €40m to sign from PSV Eindhoven last year and his price-tag will be in that region again this summer.

He failed to make much of an impact at the Stadio San Paolo and does not fit well into new coach Gennaro Gattuso’s tactics.

Everton had been considered the favourites, as Carlo Ancelotti was in charge of Napoli when Lozano was purchased.

Spurs and Arsenal are also contenders, but the Corriere dello Sport claims today that Manchester United are suddenly surging up the outside.

The Italian paper points out this would above all be due to Lozano’s marketing potential, as ‘Chucky’ has a huge following in Mexico.
