Bosnia international Miralem Pjanic has claimed Juventus ‘represent perfection’ and revealed he could have moved to the Allianz Stadium already in 2014.

The former Roma midfielder arrived in July 2016 for €32m, after having established himself as one of the leading midfielders in Serie A and has picked up three Scudetti, two Coppa Italia and one Supercoppa Italiana since his transfer to Turin.

But the 30-year-old, who spent five seasons with the Giallorossi after his move from Olympique Lyonnais, has claimed he decided to postpone his move because of the great competition at the Bianconeri.

“I could have moved to Juventus two years earlier,” Pjanic told Sonny Anderson on Instagram. “I thought that I would be among the best of the time. There were [Andrea] Pirlo, [Paul] Pogba, [Arturo] Vidal, and the other exceptional players.

“They worked wonderfully. Going directly into that context would have been complicated for me. It was better for me to stay in Rome with Rudi Garcia.

“We were a good team, strong, but not like Juventus. They had a great environment. Then I said to myself that the time had come to enter the world of Juve.

“When you enter the dressing room and see the names of the legends, you can tell that the club has a great history,” he said. “There’s the DNA of victory in everything. This club represents perfection, it’s winning because it works harder than the others.

The Champions League title has eluded the Old Lady since 1995-96 and Pjanic admitted the Bianconeri will ‘need some luck’ to go all the way when the tournament resumes.

“Juventus’ goal will be to win it. We will also need some luck, to have the whole team available. We are one of the five or six teams who want to take it home.”
