Today’s figures show 274 deaths registered since yesterday, taking the total death toll to 29,958.

The positive news is that the number of people told they have overcome the virus grew by another 3,031.

This disparity also means the number of total active cases currently in Italy fell by 1,904 to 89,624.

Of those, 1,311 are in intensive care (a drop of 22).

There were 1,401 new positive tests out of 70,359 swabs performed since yesterday.

Once again, Lombardy is the epicentre, as 134 of the 274 deaths were in that region.
