Paolo Maldini and his son Daniel were thought to be Milan’s only cases of COVID-19, but Scaroni assured the pair were ‘now doing well’, with others on the road to recovery.

“We have some infected players on the mend, but the two Maldinis are now doing well,” the club’s President told WarRoom.

“Milanello is open and we’ve already started training again, keeping our distance. We’re taking steps towards the restart.

“We have to get used to living with the virus and this also applies to football. It’s not possible to stand still until the rate of infection is zero.

“After all, we can adopt the German formula, which places those who are ill into quarantine while the others continue.”

Ibrahimovic has been training with Hammarby in his native Sweden but is now expected back on the peninsula next Monday.

He recently admitted to ‘feeling good’ with the club he owned a share in, so what does the 73-year-old think?

“I think Ibrahimovic wants to get back to playing.”
