Former CEO Adriano Galliani reveals Milan ‘tried everything’ to get Piotr Zielinski from Udinese in 2016, but he chose Napoli instead.
The Poland international midfielder eventually made the move to the Stadio San Paolo for €15.6m plus bonuses that summer.
“I do have a real regret and that is Zielinski,” Galliani told Il Messaggero Veneto newspaper.
“In 2016, we tried everything possible to bring him in to the Rossoneri fold, but even from the season before we’d been really limited in our transfer capabilities, so in the end the lad went to Napoli.
“I will admit, Zielinski was a player we really, really liked.”
He has scored two goals with five assists in 35 competitive games for Napoli this season and is on the verge of a contract extension.
