“I will admit, I didn’t expect to receive interest from Verona when I first arrived, as I was in negotiations with clubs in other countries, but as soon as the possibility of a move to Italy came up, I dropped everything else,” he told the Corriere dello Sport.
“I knew that only Serie A could allow me to prove what I could really do. It was the same with Napoli, coach Ivan Juric talked to me before I signed and wanted a promise that I would deliver the same level of performance. I think I kept my word, as my only approach to football is total professionalism.
“I do care about Verona, but I had this opportunity to join Napoli, a team that have the ambition to go all the way in every competition. I grabbed it with both hands, but without forgetting the gratitude to the club that helped me get to this point.”
