As Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini is accused of ‘acting irresponsibly’, Valencia have asked UEFA and Italian authorities to intervene.
That prompted the Spanish club to express its ‘surprise’ at the coach’s comments and claim he ‘put numerous people at risk’ of catching COVID-19.
Now, Ana Barcelo – health minister for the Valencian Community – has hit out at Gasperini for travelling to Mestalla.
“He acted irresponsibly,” Marca quotes her as saying. “He knew he was coming to a high-risk area. He shouldn’t have travelled.
“The news, in any case, confirms why the match had to be played behind closed doors, like it did.”
The newspaper also writes Valencia are ‘expecting a reaction’ from UEFA and Italian health authorities, hoping they come down hard on the 62-year-old.
