“In these last few games, I’ve seen many positive things and signs of growth,” Di Biagio said at a press conference.

“I think it’s normal that what happened the other night still burns us a lot, as well as what happened against Cagliari.

“The lads are coming to terms with the fact that nothing’s been decided and or lost yet, even if wins would’ve allowed us to close the gap.

“In any case, we’re fine mentally. We need to be focused and aware that we can pull this off.

“I expect a Sampdoria side who will want to win like us and won’t want to play for a draw. They’ll want to win, so we’ll have to stand up to them. We’ll be ready.

“Some of the lads haven’t recovered and some aren’t in top condition ilke Reca. We’ll see how the game progresses.

“Several of them are also tired, but I’ll decide what to do tomorrow. I’d always like Petagna on the field. I’ll make a decision on him tomorrow.”

The coach will sit out the trip to his side’s relegation rivals after he was sent to the stands in their 2-2 draw with Milan.

“This is a somewhat unusual suspension. I’ll experience the game close to the dugout and the players.

“I’ll be in close contact with [assistant Massimo] Mutarelli, whom I have great confidence in. I don’t think it’ll be a problem, but rather a new experience for me.”
