Immobile failed to score in his second successive game yesterday, failing to prevent Lazio from a 2-1 defeat to Sassuolo.

Writing on Instagram after the game, the 30-year-old claimed he and his family had been targeted by Aquile supporters.

“Some probably have short memories, therefore I ask you all to leave my family alone,” he said.

“If you want to write nasty or insulting things, do it to me directly. My family has nothing to do with any of this. Thank you.”

It is not clear whether he was referring to insults made publicly on his Instagram account or privately via direct message.

Despite his recent profligacy, he remains Capocannoniere this season with 29 goals, one more than nearest challnger Cristiano Ronaldo.
