Manchester City are reportedly hoping to pull off a double Serie A swoop for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez and Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
City can go forward with their plans in the transfer market after their Champions League ban was lifted.
Now, Sky Sports claims they are ready to do battle with Barcelona for Martinez, who is ‘refusing to extend his contract’ with Inter.
As per the broadcaster, the English giants see him as ‘a potential long-term successor’ to Sergio Aguero, who recently turned 32.
Unlike Barca, whose financial problems forced them to sell Arthur Melo to Juventus, they are ‘better placed’ to afford the Argentine.
Sky adds his £98.5m (€111m) release clause is still in effect, despite Italian reports stating it expired last week.
With regards to Koulibaly, Napoli have ‘made it clear’ that they are prepared to sell him if they manage to sign Victor Osimhen.
That deal looks like going through, although Sky warns Aurelio De Laurentiis is continuing to drive a hard bargain for the 29-year-old.
Although it is not quite the €100m previously quoted, the President is still demanding as much as £70m (€77m).
