Sevilla star Lucas Ocampos believes they are among the Europa League candidates with Roma, Inter and Manchester United, despite the COVID-19 case.

They take on Roma in a one-off Round of 16 clash on Thursday at 17.55 UK time (16.55 GMT).

“It’s a very important match and we have to take this one step at a time to reach our ultimate objective,” Ocampos told Radio Sevilla.

“There are many strong teams in the competition, such as Roma, Inter and Manchester United, so I wouldn’t say we are the favourites to win the trophy.

“There are many strong teams in the competition, such as Roma, Inter and Manchester United, so I wouldn’t say we are the favourites to win the trophy.

“We had five days of rest after the end of La Liga, while Roma kept up the match fitness until their last game with Juventus. We’re in good shape too, so it’ll be complicated for both teams to win this.”

Sevilla were affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, with news last week that midfielder Nemanja Gudelj had tested positive.

“It didn’t influence our training schedule very much,” insists Ocampos.

“It was unexpected, but was all sorted out. There were just a couple of days of uncertainty, but once we got back to training, we did it in the best possible way.”
