Bologna have reportedly won the race to sign Hearts defender Aaron Hickey, on loan with obligation to buy, beating Bayern Munich and Celtic.

The teenage Scottish talent had visited both Bologna and Bayern training facilities, but ultimately chose the club where he’d be given the room to play regularly and grow.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the deal has now been done with the Serie A side.

Hickey will move on loan with obligation to buy at the end of the season for a reported €2m.

Hearts should also be given a percentage of the sell-on fee.

Primarily a left-back, the 18-year-old can also play in central defence or on the right, as he is two-footed.
