New Parma coach Fabio Liverani admits the team will have to adjust to his tactics and losing their two top scorers from last season.

The former Lecce boss was appointed to replace Roberto D’Aversa and began pre-season training this week.

“This is a club with an important history behind it and remained in the elite even during the rebirth,” said Liverani in his press conference.

“D’Aversa and the club did a great job in climbing back up. The first thing I asked for when meeting with the directors was clarity on the project. There might be moments of difficulty, but I want to keep certain focal points we can rely on.

“This is a squad with great potential. I will use a four-man defence and three-man midfield, then in attack we’ll see what the characteristics are of the players at my disposal. Obviously, losing Dejan Kulusevski and Gianluca Caprari means missing many goals, so we’ll have to find them elsewhere.

“There isn’t much time in this pre-season and we’ve got to speed the process up.”

Liverani was asked if Gervinho and Yann Karamoh could also be sold this summer and did not rule them out.

“Gervinho is an experienced player with great quality, while Karamoh is still getting accustomed to a certain type of football. They are Parma players and we’re counting on them, but if offers arrive that suit everyone, then we’ll evaluate them.”
