Spezia have announced that player Giulio Maggiore tested positive for COVID-19 after international duty with the Italy Under-21 squad.

There was an outbreak within the Azzurrini that prompted them to cancel the game with Iceland, while the Under-20 side stepped in to play the Republic of Ireland.

A statement from Spezia notes that Maggiore had already been self-isolating upon his return to the club and did not therefore come into contact with his teammates since October 4.

Maggiore is asymptomatic and will undergo the necessary quarantine period.
