Cesare Prandelli says he met Giuseppe Iachini this morning and reveals his number one target.

The Italian coach was officially unveiled today.

"My dream is to build a brave team, that fears nobody," Prandelli said.

“Teams that have technical skills but are without competitive fury do not go anywhere. You have to find that magical alchemy and balance that can help these players. It's very hard to win games without aggressivity, only a few players can win games alone. [Franck] Ribery could, he is an amazing player, he can make the difference but we can't only give the ball to him and hope something happens."

The Frenchman was playing with Bayern Munich back in 2010 when Prandelli’s Fiorentina were eliminated in the Champions League quarter finals by a decisive Miroslave Klose goal that, however, should have been disallowed for a clear off-side.

"I want to speak with Ribery and ask if he remembers about that robbery in Munich," Prandelli said.

"This team has a big potential, I hope to get it all out and that the players follow me,” he continued

“Right now I have to be practical. When Daniele [Pradé] called me I was surprised but in three seconds we immediately started talking about football. When you feel close to a project everything becomes easier."

"A mistake I must not commit is not having too much exuberance and start with basic principles. Few but very clear. Once this is done, attention should be paid to every detail, improving the team and individuals.

“The mistake I can make is passing on all this adrenaline these days, giving players too much information. Even for them, it is a traumatic day, many had a great relationship with Beppe [Iachini]."

The two coaches met at Fiorentina’s training ground today.

"I like this human aspect, I met Beppe this morning and I was embarrassed because I never thought I could take his spot.”

Daniele Pradé said Prandelli’s task will be to restore empathy with the fans.

"It's important to hear what people say, it's important to respect everyone,” Prandelli said.

“We are privileged, we live in a bubble but we are doing something that we like. Asking for help to fans it's something I wouldn't do right now as the situation for their private life may be complicated.”

The 63-year-old left Fiorentina ten years ago.

"We had a great relationship (with the Della Valle family) for four years and a half, in the last months the idea of the project changed. It can happen that after many years two parties don't agree about something."

The new Fiorentina coach has clear ideas about his future.

"The team that wears this team must always leave the pitch with the head up. We need to be brave, Florence needs bravery. We are Florence, everything was born here, they are second to none. The sense of belonging will be important."

"Joe Barone and Rocco Commisso are sensible people. Before speaking with me they wanted to speak with Beppe and it's not easy to find these people in football. If we respect each-other we can create something important"

"It’s important to respect the city and the fans who are very demanding.”

But how his Fiorentina side will play?

"I have some ideas but first I want to speak with the players, they must be the first ones to be convinced.

"I think I was the only coach to buy season tickets for two years to watch the team, I always loved Fiorentina, I think I can give so much in these months.

"I'd never thought I could be a candidate to become the new Fiorentina coach until a few weeks ago. I received a call last week, it was (Genoa President) Enrico Preziosi and it was midnight, he asked me if I was ready."

His contract runs through the end of the season.

"I want to do this job in an important way. This club has always given value to meritocracy. The future is in one hour when the training begins,” he said.

"Mentality is the most important thing. We have to have that one of a strong team, the mentality of the city. I always thought so. I am convinced that many players do not know the qualities that have and have not expressed 100%."

"President Commisso is far away now but he is present. He follows everything we are not abandoned. The structure of the club is very simple and direct.”

The Italian coach did also hint at a possible return of former Fiorentina striker Gabriel Batistuta.
