Head of the Polish Football Association Zibi Boniek warns it’ll be ‘practically impossible’ for Arkadiusz Milik to attend Euro 2020 if he doesn’t play for Napoli.

The striker has been frozen out all season since refusing to sign a new contract or accepting a summer transfer, so a January exit seems inevitable.

Although Milik is in the squad for tomorrow’s Nations League match with Italy, he might not necessarily maintain that momentum until next term.

The striker has been frozen out all season since refusing to sign a new contract or accepting a summer transfer, so a January exit seems inevitable.

Although Milik is in the squad for tomorrow’s Nations League match with Italy, he might not necessarily maintain that momentum until next term.

“If he doesn’t play at club level, it’s practically impossible for him to be used at Euro 2020,” Boniek told Libero newspaper.

“When he’s in good shape, Milik can make the difference in any team. I don’t know why he isn’t playing at Napoli, that’s an issue between him and (Napoli President Aurelio) De Laurentiis. I don’t want to get into it.”

As the head of the Polish FA, Boniek is also no fan of the recent calls for internationals to be suspended during the pandemic.

“I don’t understand all these complaints from the directors. Federations have to exist and national teams have to play, end of story. With a protocol that everyone sticks to, we can continue playing.

“Clubs are being egotistical and I don’t understand why club teams ought to play, but not national sides.”
