Verona talent Mattia Zaccagni thanks coach Ivan Juric for helping his development, while Hellas proved themselves against Atalanta.
Miguel Veloso converted a penalty before Zaccagni’s delightful first touch and strike secured the 2-0 result in Bergamo.
“We proved that even in difficult circumstances, we’ve got balls,” Zaccagni told DAZN.
Hellas are ravaged by injuries and COVID, losing a couple of players during the game too.
“Those who remain are in great shape, as we train at a crazy tempo. Atalanta probably had a lot taken out of them midweek by a Liverpool side that made them work really hard, so we did well to hold out and then take our chances.
“The coach has helped me grow so much, both on and off the field, above all psychologically. I am so happy with what this team is achieving.
“He always tries to keep me on my toes, as in some games he might not even tell you that you’re doing well. It’s carrot and stick techniques.”
Zaccagni is on such sparkling form, is he setting his sights on an international call-up?
“I am thinking about Italy, unfortunately I had to pull out last time due to injury, but I hope to get another chance.”
