Inter go into the final game in an extraordinary Champions League group, as any of the four teams could still reach the Round of 16 or go out of Europe altogether.
Borussia Monchengladbach have eight points, Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid seven, while Inter close the gap on five.
In order to go through to the next Champions League round, Inter must beat Shakhtar Donetsk at San Siro and hope that Real Madrid-Borussia Monchengladbach doesn’t end in a draw.
That is because if Inter and Real Madrid finish level on points, then the Spaniards have a superior head-to-head record.
There is therefore the risk of Real Madrid and Gladbach settling for a draw, but this is not a great idea for Zinedine Zidane’s men either.
That’s because if Real Madrid draw and Shakhtar Donetsk get a point against Inter, then the Spaniards would be knocked down into third place.
If Inter don't beat Shakhtar, they will finish last and be out of Europe.
