So far in 2020-21, Lazio have suffered their worst defensive record since 1992-93 and tonight they must stop Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Braut Haaland.

The defensive performance in 2020-21 is of concern for coach Simone Inzaghi, who has never seen a worse start to the season.

The 16 goals conceded in nine Serie A games so far, is the worst figure since the 1992-93 season and the Aquile defence are up against it this Wednesday.

The 16 goals conceded in nine Serie A games so far, is the worst figure since the 1992-93 season and the Aquile defence are up against it this Wednesday.

Despite not keeping a clean sheet in Europe this term, Lazio have picked up eight points in four games and are unbeaten in the Champions League.

A difficult start to the campaign included a coronavirus outbreak limiting Inzaghi’s men in the competition, but they have only conceded four goals in four games.

Ciro Immobile won the battle against Haaland in the opener, as Lazio ran out 3-1 winners in Rome, but the Aquile haven’t been able to stop the leak at the back in Serie A.

Lazio started the season with a 2-0 win against Cagliari but has only kept one clean sheet in the next eight games – a 2-0 win away to Crotone last month.

The defensive problem has left Inzaghi’s men ninth in the League with 14 points – trailing League leaders Milan by nine points – and they arrive from another setback against Udinese on Sunday.

Tonight, one of Europe’s hottest centre-forwards aims to continue his great record for Die Schwarzgelben, as Haaland continues to impress both domestically and in Europe.

Haaland has scored 10 goals in eight Bundesliga games and has added six in four Champions League fixtures, of course scoring BVB’s only goal at the Olimpico in October.

The 20-year-old Norwegian striker has scored 16 goals in his first 12 Champions League matches, including his impressive start with RB Salzburg in the first half of 2019-20.
