La Dea lost 1-0 at the Gewiss Stadium against Bologna in July and Gasperini stressed the Orobici must be aware of the attacking threats tomorrow too.

“It was a particular match, we had chances,” Gasperini said at a press conference. “Bologna are a dangerous team, especially in attack.

“It will require attention, but we come from a series of results that we want to build on.”

Robin Gosens has scored twice in his three last Serie A games and Gasperini said he’s ‘one of the best’ left-backs out there.

“I don’t think he’s underestimated, he plays for the national team too,” the coach added. “This is already a sign of what he is doing in the League, for the goals he scored.

“He’s one of the best in his role.”

The coach revealed he has many alternatives to create an attacking side, with Ruslan Malinovskyi, Josip Ilicic, Mario Pasalic and Aleksei Miranchuk available.

“There was a time when we had Malinovskyi, Ilicic and Pasalic out,” he said. “We are now recovering all of them.

“Miranchuk is available. With the recovery of these players, we have better chances. I have always tried to play attacking teams.”

The Papu Gomez case has caught the attention of the media and Gasperini admitted his players might be affected by the constant talk about the Argentine’s situation.

“The players have a strong focus on what we must do on the pitch, these are exceptions off the pitch that take the attention away from what we have done on the pitch.”

Gasperini was pleased with the 4-1 win against Roma and said La Dea are ‘on the right path’, stressing he will not be diving into the transfer market.

“The first half didn’t go too bad, we conceded the goal but then Roma didn’t do much,” he said. “As the minutes passed, our confidence grew.

“We close with the match in Bologna, then we have a short break, you usually arrive in this period with the first round over, but there are many games left.

“We must figure out how to solidify this team, who are on the right path. We have to work well with what we have, there’s room for growth.

“I don’t think there are many alternatives in January.”

Atalanta sit seventh in Serie A, 10 points behind League leaders Milan but with one game in hand. They trail the top four by three points ahead of their trip to the Renato Dall’Ara tomorrow.
