Cagliari have confirmed Marko Rog has injured his cruciate ligament in the right knee and the Croatian will undergo surgery in Austria today.

Sky Sport Italia reported the former Napoli midfielder had suffered a rupture of the cruciate ligament and Cagliari confirmed the news on their official website.

“The player was subjected to investigations following the trauma to the right knee reported after the last championship match,” the club wrote.

“The player was subjected to investigations following the trauma to the right knee reported after the last championship match,” the club wrote.

“The specialist examination was performed by Professor Massimiliano Salvi, orthopaedic consultant of the club, and instrumental examinations by Dr. Antonio Giagheddu, carried out on the Korian clinic in Quartu Sant’Elena”

Rog will undergo surgery by Professor Christian Fink at the Hochrum clinic in Innsbruck. The same doctor who performed surgery on Rog’s teammate Leonardo Pavoletti.
