Fiorentina and Cagliari remember former captain and centre-back Davide Astori, who would have turned 34 today.
Astori died from cardiac arrest on the morning of Fiorentina’s Serie A match against Udinese in March 2018.
“Always and forever with us,” Cagliari wrote on Twitter and Fiorentina added: “On January 7, 34 years ago, Davide Astori was born. DA13, forever with us”.
The defender spent six years at Cagliari, leaving in 2014 for Roma on loan, before joining Fiorentina in the summer of 2015.

He made 99 appearances for the Viola, scoring one goal and became captain in 2017-18. Astori was capped 14 times by Italy, helping them finish third in Confederations Cup in 2013.
