Tomorrow’s match at San Siro kicks off at 19.45 UK time and Milan face the Granata for the second time in a row.

Last term, Milan needed 120 minutes to beat Torino 4-2 in the Coppa Italia, when Hakan Calhanoglu equalised in the stoppages to take the two teams into extra time.

“For our mentality and desire, we must try to win every single match,” Pioli told Rai Sport. “We are young, and the club is prestigious.

“Our goal is to advance. We will meet a determined opponent.”

Milan have struggled with a host of absentees and both Ismael Bennacer and Alexis Saelemaekers are expected back against Cagliari in Serie A this weekend.

“Today, everyone is better, but they haven’t worked with the team. Tomorrow’s last session will be decisive.”

But Pioli said the match will be important for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who should get some minutes against the Granata tomorrow.

“It will be an important moment for him,” the coach added. “The main thing is to have overcome the muscular problem.

“He must find more rhythm and minutes; he will find it tomorrow.”

Zlatan has been out since the 3-1 win against Napoli in November.
