Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo will assess Matthijs de Ligt, said Leonardo Bonucci ‘partly trained’ and that Alvaro Morata ‘is better’ ahead of Lazio.

The Old Lady coach revealed some of his players might recover and said Aaron Ramsey and Nicolò Fagioli are ready to face the Aquile on Saturday.

The Bianconeri have struggled with a host of absentees in recent weeks and are still short, meaning coach Pirlo need some of his men to ‘grit their teeth’ and continue without the essential rest.

“This morning, some of the unavailable players have partly trained with the team, we still have one day to recover someone,” he revealed.

Rodrigo Bentancur tested positive for coronavirus and Pirlo admitted he will have to ‘invent something’ against Simone Inzaghi’s men.

“It’s a shame that Bentacur is absent, we will have to invent something to put the best line-up on the pitch.”

Matthijs de Ligt has yet to resume training with the group, but Pirlo said Spain international Alvaro Morata ‘improves’ with every day.

“De Ligt has not trained yet,” Pirlo continued. “Tomorrow, we’ll see how he will be.

“Leonardo Bonucci trained partly, he is a little better, but he has been out for 16 days.

“Morata is better, every day he tries to improve his form.”

But the coach revealed Welsh midfielder Ramsey could play against the Aquile.

“Ramsey is fine, he could play the game. Tomorrow, he can be an extra resource, he’s fine and we might need him.”

Youngster Nicolò Fagioli has impressed when given the chance to play and Pirlo admitted he could start against Simone Inzaghi’s men.

“Fagioli could start, or not, it will depend on who we have available,” he said. “He could have started the other night as well, but then he had a problem.

“He is training well; he knows what he must do, and he is confident. But we are calm.”

Inzaghi said he hopes to have Arthur Melo back in action against FC Porto in the Champions League.

“I hope so, the visit he had yesterday went well,” Pirlo said. “The pain is decreasing; it will depend a lot on when he starts being on the pitch with the team.
“We hope he can give us a hand in the next matches.”
