The Ducali thought they’d done enough to take all three points when Valentin Mihaila tapped in at the 90th minute, but Simone Iacoponi accidentally put a German Pezzella cross into his own net.

“I think my team has been superior to the opposition in every game lately except against Inter, but despite the fact we are now scoring more goals, we still can’t seem to bring home the three points,” D’Aversa told Sky Sport Italia.

“Today’s match really is our campaign in a nutshell, because we basically gifted the first and third Fiorentina goals. There are regrets, because we play well, but if we are in this position, it’s because these errors keep happening.

“I cannot explain what happened today, because the game was finished, Fiorentina were struggling, yet we make such naïve mistakes, despite having experienced players.

“We ought to kill the game and we never manage to do that. Serie A does not allow for distractions, we have to change our attitude and find the right path.”
