The France international won the Champions League with Bayern Munich, but also lost the Final.

“The bitter tears after that final in Munich. That special night and unbelievable emotions in London one year later. That corner at Old Trafford and that wonderful goal from Arjen," wrote Ribery on Twitter.

“All those exciting nights at the Allianz Arena. That special feeling of winning something great.

“The Champions League game me everything. This is what kids’ dreams are made of. I was one of them back in Boulogne-sur-Mer. Never let something destroy the football we love.

“We cannot forget where we come from and who we play for.”

Manchester City have already formally pulled out of the Super League, with reports that others will follow.

Juventus, Inter and Milan are the Italian clubs who signed up for the Super League.
