The veteran hitman completed the 3-0 rout after a Joaquin Correa brace at the Stadio Olimpico.

“This was our last chance, we were up against a team that had a great season and needed to shake things up, especially after the defeat to Napoli,” Immobile told Sky Sport Italia.

“We still have some hope of the Champions League places and we won’t give up. It’s true we will have to win them all and hope some of the others slip up, but we want to enjoy ourselves all the way to the end.

“I’m happy with the goal and also the assist for Tucu. I’ve been playing with Correa for a long time now and we complete each other, but the same is true of Luis Alberto and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.”

Immobile could’ve had another goal just before that, but his lob thumped the upright.

“Donnarumma is a phenomenon, he made an absolutely stunning save on my chance in the first half. I thought if I beat him with a lob, it’s going to have to be absolutely precise.

“In the end, it was a bit too precise, as I got it over him and onto the woodwork.”
