Milan on the defensive

Milan are being linked with two defenders – Palermo left-back Federico Balzaretti and Cristian Zapata of Villarreal.

The Italian international, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, is of interest to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza outfit.

The club have been linked with the former Juventus player in the past, but netting the stopper could be problematic.

Palermo have insisted on numerous occasions that the player will remain in Sicily unless Paris Saint-Germain make an offer, seeing as his wife works in the French capital.

Meanwhile, the Corriere dello Sport is suggesting that Milan are pondering a swoop for Colombian international Zapata.

The latter is available for transfer after Villarreal were relegated this term and he could be netted for just €6m – he was signed less than a year ago for €9m.

The 25-year-old knows Serie A well given that he spent six years with Udinese before his move to Spain last summer.

Juventus have also been paired with the centre-back.
