Zampa calms Palermo optimism

Palermo lifted themselves off the foot of the table by beating Roma, but President Maurizio Zamparini warns “there’s a long road to safety.”

The Sicilians had been without a victory since November, but pushed Roma aside 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

“We’ll have a happy Easter break thanks to this result,” smiled Zamparini on ItaSportPress.

“I am very pleased, but I don’t want to add anything else right now, seeing as it was just an important step forward and not a decisive one.

“There’s a long road to safety still ahead of us.”

Palermo are now in penultimate place on 24 points, while Siena have 26 and Genoa 27.
