Delio Rossi doesn’t think his Sampdoria side will be advantaged by the suspension of Mario Balotelli against Milan on Saturday.

“It’s not as if he will be replaced by a youth player,” the Doria tactician noted. “If Balotelli isn’t there then Robinho will play.

“If there is no Robinho then it’ll be up to M’Baye Niang. This is what big sides are all about…”

The Diavolo may line-up against Doria with Andrea Poli, the Italian international midfielder who traded the two clubs during the summer.

“Poli is a kid who did very well with us,” Rossi added. “He gave a lot for this shirt. He was handed an opportunity and he took it. It is hard to say no to Milan.

“I wish him well, but we need to look to the future. Perhaps by unearthing more players like Poli.”

The Marassi outfit have had a problematic start to the season given that they have collected just two points from their five matches so far.

“Words count for nothing right now. I need to show my players faith and give them tranquillity. We don’t have two or three phenomenal players, but I think we have a good squad.”
