Italian papers claim Cesare Prandelli is drawing up a Plan B for the World Cup without Mario Balotelli.

The Milan striker hit the headlines on Friday after a disappointing performance in the 2-0 defeat to Roma, followed by a row on live television with Sky Sport Italia pundits.

Today La Gazzetta dello Sport’s front page headline is ‘An Italy without Balo?’

They suggest Coach Prandelli will “give him one more chance, but is studying a Plan B with Antonio Cassano as a False 9.”

Tuttosport send out an appeal to Prandelli and ask: “Think about it. Does this Balotelli deserve the World Cup?”

As for the Corriere dello Sport, that paper claims “this time it’s over” as Milan are determined to sell SuperMario after the latest outburst.

La Stampa also warned “Milan are taking their time and Prandelli is starting to have doubts.”

Balotelli is increasingly under pressure from players who are finding the net regularly this season, above all Torino’s Ciro Immobile and Roma hitman Mattia Destro.

While Mario is highly unlikely to be left out of the trip to Brazil, his position in the starting XI is no longer guaranteed.
