Anglo-Italian friendly day

It’s an Anglo-Italian day with Aston Villa-Parma, Sunderland-Udinese, West Ham-Sampdoria and Burnley-Verona.

The Serie A season doesn’t kick off until August 30-31, but their preparations continue with a series of friendlies on English soil, all of them kicking off at 15.00 UK time.

Birmingham’s Villa Park hosts a game between Aston Villa and Parma today, although Antonio Cassano misses out due to a knee injury.

Udinese continue their British tour after facing Watford and visit Sunderland’s Heritage Park.

Sampdoria take part in the inaugural Marathonbet Cup at the Boleyn Ground this afternoon against hosts West Ham. If it is a draw after 90 minutes, a winner will be decided on penalties.

It will be the Blucerchiati’s first match on English soil since a defeat to Newcastle in 2007.

Hellas Verona and their veteran World Cup winner Luca Toni pay a visit to Burnley, who are fresh from a 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo.
