Nemanja Vidic reveals he is working on communication with Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic. “We see the whole game.”
The former Manchester United defender spoke to Inter Channel on how he is settling in with his new teammates.
“We have been working hard, we’ve had some good sessions. I’m trying to adapt to the way we play and so far it’s gone well, if you take out the last game we played in Germany,” he said of the 3-1 friendly defeat with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Vidic is trying to form a particularly close partnership with Handanovic in goal.
“I think it’s important for defenders and goalkeepers to speak because we see the whole game and we can help the players in front of us.
“That’s what I’ve done my whole career and I’m trying to do here, trying to help the players with what I see on the pitch.”
Vidic has already scored his first goal in an Inter jersey, nodding in during their US tour against Roma.
“I try to attack the ball, I’m good in the air and trying to score more goals – maybe I should score more. It was a great cross from Dodo, I was in the right place and it was a great goal.”
Inter face PAOK in another friendly tomorrow, their last before the Europa League play-off away to Stjarnan.
“Hopefully we will be 100 per cent when the season starts and play good football. I think it’s important to have another game as soon as possible after the disappointing night against Eintracht.
“Playing PAOK is not easy, as I played last year against Olympiacos with Manchester United and it was really tough.
“I don’t think I’ve ever played in Iceland before, but it will be a good experience and it’s important to get a good result so we can relax and have a good match when we come back to Milan.
“Of course the main thing is to qualify.”
