The Ducali look to be headed for Serie B after a 1-0 home loss to the Flying Donkeys this evening, a game that was snowed off on Sunday.

“Unfortunately the result is negative, but the performance satisfied me and I remain hopeful,” Donadoni told Sky Sport Italia.

“The team put its heart into getting this result back on track. We were penalised by a hasty refereeing decision on Galloppa’s dismissal. The second yellow card seemed a bit fussy to me.

“Obviously a relegation battle becomes much more complicated when you’re down to 10 men for an hour.”

Parma are bottom of the Serie A table, but the real problems are off the pitch, as new patron Giampietro Manenti must resolve the financial situation by Monday or face further penalties and possible bankruptcy.

“The new owners have three or four days to do what they said. I don’t understand why some people won’t just wait and see what happens.

“I want to see how many will eat their words if the promises are kept. Populist statements are easy to make, but few are actually prepared to put their money where their mouth is.

“The players proved again tonight that they will give their all and nobody is holding back, including me. It’d be easier to leave and think only of money, but this is about respect.”
