De Silvestri and Buffon injuries

Lorenzo De Silvestri needs knee ligament tests, while Gigi Buffon required 10 stitches after Croatia 1-1 Italy.

Sampdoria right-back De Silvestri was stretchered off after his crucial block in the box on Mateo Kovacic, spraining his knee very badly.

“De Silvestri had a pretty violent knee sprain, so he will clearly return to Genoa for tests with his club.

“That movement of the knee is worrying,” Professor Enrico Castellacci told Rai Sport.

“Buffon had a nasty cut to his knee and I needed to put in at least 10 stitches. That incident occurred during the goal.”

Mario Mandzukic scored from close range, sliding in and not pulling his foot back as he raked his studs on the goalkeeper's knee.

The captain was hobbling throughout the first half and was replaced by Salvatore Sirigu at the break.
