Palermo have officially announced the signing of Alberto Gilardino from Guangzhou Evergrande.
The former Milan striker accepted the move to Sicily some time ago, but paperwork has held up his move to the Rosanero.
However, in a statement on the club’s website, it has been officially announced that the 2006 World Cup-winner will join the Sicilian side.
“Palermo are very happy to announce the signing of Alberto Gilardino,” the press release began.
“The Rosanero club is pleased to welcome one of the most decorated players in Italian football, a world champion with the national team in 2006, and with Milan in 2007.
“A pure talent, he has scored 178 Serie A goals, as well as 18 in UEFA competitions.”
The striker will arrive in Sicily tomorrow morning, and be presented to fans and media next week.
