Edy Reja admits he was afraid Atalanta would “throw away another victory,” but held on in Empoli.
Rafael Toloi’s first half header proved enough for the 1-0 win, just days after a last-gasp 1-1 draw with Verona.
“When the referee awarded six minutes of stoppages, I was afraid we’d throw away another victory at the end like we did with Verona,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“Instead it all went well and it’s never easy to win here. Gabriel Paletta and Toloi are defenders of the highest level. The Brazilian just needs to become more concentrated, in training as well as in a match.”
Atalanta are surprisingly in ninth place level with Scudetto hopefuls Roma on eight points.
