Antonio Conte called Fabio Quagliarella, Domenico Berardi and Sebastian Giovinco for Euro 2016 qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Norway.
The Nazionale are currently top of their group, but need some more results to secure their spot in the tournament in France.
Daniele De Rossi misses out, as he begins a two-match ban following his red card against Bulgaria.
Mario Balotelli had been tipped for a recall, but is injured for Sunday’s Milan-Napoli game, so unavailable for international duty too.
Sassuolo star Berardi gets his first senior call at the age of 21, while Toronto FC talent Giovinco is again included after missing out last time due to an injury.
Torino veteran Quagliarella earns a recall thanks to his fine form with the Granata.
Quagliarella has seven goals in 25 senior caps for Italy, but he hadn’t been called up since September 2014.
His last match for the Azzurri was a 5-0 win over the Faroe Islands in September 2010.
Notably, Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi is listed as a defender, having now become a right-back.
The Azzurri will meet at the Coverciano training ground on Sunday night.
The first match is against Azerbaijan in Baku’s Olympic Stadium on Saturday October 10, kicking off at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).
They then host Norway at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Tuesday October 13, kicking off at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).
