The two form teams in Serie A right now face off at the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday afternoon.

“Fiorentina have found a Coach in Paulo Sousa who got the best out of the side. We can say the same of Sarri,” claimed President De Laurentiis during a book launch.

“Sarri brought to my Napoli his sense of inner discipline. All the players, listening to this man and working alongside him, have assimilated his approach to life.

“I’ve always had intriguing Napoli sides, from Edy Reja to Walter Mazzarri, from Rafa Benitez to Maurizio Sarri. Every time, Napoli gives me new sensations.

“Sarri is a good Coach because he never wanted to talk about the transfer market. Sarri asks for players in one role rather than another, then leaves it to the club to find the specific players.

“I hope that at Christmas we are as high up the table as possible, but we have to take it one step at a time.”

De Laurentiis also revealed he was once close to capturing Marco Verratti before his move from Pescara to Paris Saint-Germain.

“I wanted Verratti and had got him, but I had to let him go. I wanted a deep-lying playmaker.

“Mirko Valdifiori must be left in peace and given time to settle. It’s ridiculous to see one article praising Valdifiori and straight afterwards another criticising him.”
