Francesco Guidolin admits “I was Plan B for Sampdoria” before they signed Vincenzo Montella.
The Blucerchiati finally made Montella’s arrival official today after days of legal wrangling to release him from the Fiorentina contract.
“Up until Friday night I was in the running to be Sampdoria Coach,” confessed ex-Udinese boss Guidolin in Il Messaggero Veneto newspaper.

“I was Plan B for Sampdoria and if they hadn’t got Montella, I would gladly have accepted the position. It’s an important club.
“Now I will wait for other proposals and hopefully in a while I’ll play as an opponent at the Stadio Friuli. The new stadium is a jewel.”
