Galliani: 'El Shaarawy could stay'

Adriano Galliani confirms the Coppa Italia is “very important,” Luiz Adriano will move to China, Stephan El Shaarawy could stay and Gigio Donnarumma offers will be rejected.

The CEO spoke to Rai Sport ahead of tonight’s Coppa Italia quarter-final against Carpi.

“It is a very important game and whoever wins will meet Spezia or Alessandria in the semi-final. It could be a gateway for the Coppa Final, which is becoming an important appointment, and potentially access to the Europa League.”

Luiz Adriano is not in the squad because he is in advanced transfer negotiations with Jiangsu Suning.

“We have an agreement with the Chinese club for Luiz Adriano, now he has to get a work visa and have his medical. My 30 years in football teach me negotiations are only closed when there is a transfer.

“It is possible El Shaarawy will return with us. We’ll see what happens with Alessio Cerci, as we have a deal with Genoa, but need a component to give the all-clear.”

There were reports today that Manchester United would offer €40m for Milan’s 16-year-old goalkeeper Donnarumma.

“He is and will remain the goalkeeper of Milan. In any case, we have not received offers and if we did they would be sent straight back.”
